Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences, also known as JIMS, is a private institute located in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The institute was established in the year 1998 under the aegis of Jagannath Gupta Memorial Educational Society. The institute is affiliated to Jagannath University, Bahadurgarh. Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences is recognised by UGC. and is a recognised provider of vocational degree programs (B.Voc) in collaboration with Jagannath University, Bahadurgarh. A two day Management Development Programme on “ Foreign Trade Policy of India and Procedures & Documentation” was organized in collaboration with Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) in November at the Conference Hall of FIEO. The objective of the Programme was to generate awareness regarding the thrust of the new Foreign Trade Policy (2009-2014) announced by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India in August 2009. The Programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri J.K.Jain, Chairman, FIEO (Northern Region).Some of the eminent guest speakers who spoke on the occasion were Shri Ajay Sahai, ITS, Director General, FIEO, Prof. Harkirat Singh and Prof. G.P.Sharma from IIFT, Shri Sujay Dasgupta, FICCI, Shri M.P.Singh and Shri V.S.Chopra, Corporate Trainers, M.R. Consultants and Dr. A.K.Sengupta, Chair Professor, JIMS.
PHDCCI and KAF's CollaborationJagannath Institute of Management Sciences, Lajpat Nagar organized a two-day MDP on Project Management in collaboration with PHDCCI and KAF ( Germany ) in December at PHD House. The objective of the programme was to conduct intensive, hands-on sessions to help managers develop basic project management background, knowledge and specific project planning skills. Also how to learn and apply reference tools to define specific project activities, sequence those activities in the form of a network diagram, create a schedule and project budgets. About 25 middle and senior level executives of small and medium enterprises participated in the programme. The pedagogy focused on a balanced mix of concept lectures, case-studies, practical exercises etc. to enhance and consolidate the learning experience of participants. Theme areas covered were Project Management processes and techniques, time and resource management, project monitoring, financial feasibility etc. Highly qualified faculty from both corporate / academia such as Mr. Manish Garg President (Steel Building Solutions), Everest Industries Ltd., Prof. (Maj. Gen) M. P. Singh, Director JIMS Lajpat Nagar, Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth and Dr. J.K. Batra, JIMS participated in the workshop. At the end of the MDP the feedback received from the delegates was most appreciative and encouraging.
A one-day MDP on "Managing Retail was organised by (Maj. Gen.) M. P. Singh, Director JIMS, Lajpat Nagar . The programme was held in collaboration with PHDCCI and KAF (Germany ) in July at PHD House. The objective of the programme was to help participants in developing an in-depth understanding of the importance and significance of Retail Industry in India as well as understanding the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) which contribute towards success in this highly competitive sector of industry. More then 25 junior and middle level executives holding positions of responsibility in small and medium enterprises attended the workshop. Key areas covered by the eminent speakers included Strategic Retail Management, Visual Merchandising and Sales Promotion, Effective Supply Chain Management and HR Issues in Retail. Faculty members with rich expertise in the retail industry such as Mr. R.K. Sadhu, V.P. (Retail) Liberty Revolutions, Mr. Raghuvansh Mathur, Marketing Manager, Nestle and Mr. Vijay Rai, Chief HR, Apollo International shared their real life experiences with the participating delegates.
